COMELEC reminds gov't employees to remain apolitical

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) - - The Commission of Elections (COMELEC) here reminded government employees to refrain from engaging in any partisan political activities relative to the May 9, 2022 local and national elections.

“Be mindful of your actions and activities while in social media or your office,” said Provincial Election Supervisor Wil S. Arceño in an interview.

Arceño was the resource speaker in a  briefing organized by the Antique Association of Information Officers recently. He discussed some Do’s and Don’ts for government employees during an election period.

He emphasized that using government resources to campaign any candidate such as the use of vehicles, equipment, materials, and supplies is also not allowed.

To the candidates, Arceño reminded them of the proper conduct of campaigning and compliance to health protocol.

The candidates are also required to get a permit from the local COMELEC Offices if they are to hold a public rally or motorcade.

He also reminded the candidates not to give anything of value during campaign events.

Likewise, during the briefing, Philippine Information Agency 6 OIC-Regional Director Jemin B. Guillermo said that information officers play a crucial role during an election period.

The IOs are also reminded to deliver timely, relevant, and accurate information to their clients.

Guillermo also cited them for their initiative in holding a briefing with COMELEC so they could be well-informed on the election guidelines covering government employees.

PIA6 is also in gratitude to COMELEC for the positive response to the requests of Provincial PIA Offices in Region 6. (JBG/psm/PIA-Antique)
