CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently turned over its projects under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) to the municipal government of Gloria.
DSWD Mimaropa Assistant Regional Director Purificacion R. Arriola led the turnover ceremonies of various projects of the department..
Among the projects that had been turned over during the inauguration rites are were as follows: newly concreted 0.3 km. barangay access roads in each of the following places such as Sitio Turil, Brgy. Maligaya; Sitio Pulo, Brgy. Tambong; Sitio Sampaguita, Brgy. Alma Villa; and Sitio Sta. Ana Gitna, Brgy. Balete.
Likewise, the fully constructed 110-lineal meter river control grouted riprap was turned over to the LGU. The project is located at Sitio Lupang Pangarap in Brgy. Lucio Laurel.
Other infrastructure projects being turned over to the communities include the construction of one unit three-classroom elementary school building at Melecio de Cantos Memorial Elementary School in Brgy. M. Adriatico and the constructions of barangay market and barangay evacuation center in the same barangay.
KALAHI-CIDSS is one of the poverty alleviation programs of DSWD that uses the community-driven development approach for achieving service delivery, poverty reduction and good governance outcomes.
According to Arriola, the development objective of the projects focuses on the targeted municipalities becoming empowered to achieve improved access to services and to participate in more inclusive local planning, budgeting and implementation. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
