DTI targets more establishments for 'safety seal'

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Twenty-eight firms in the province have received the Safety Seal Certification (SSC) by the Department of
Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office as of February 23 this year.

DTI Public Information Officer Marjorie Tendras said that the total number includes 10 newly certified establishments by the agency as it further intensifies its campaign for SSC compliance among supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores, membership shopping clubs, construction supply or hardware stores, logistics service providers, barbershops as well as salons and service and repair shops.

The SSC is a voluntary certification scheme which affirms that an establishment is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and uses or integrates its contact tracing with StaySafe.ph.

It aims to boost consumers' confidence by ensuring that establishments faithfully observe the minimum public standards for the safe reopening of the businesses.

"Our goal is to have more establishments certified under the Safety Seal Certification this year to increase the confidence level of the consumers and perk up the local economy," said DTI OIC provincial director Ken Queenie Cuñada.

The DTI is one of the agencies vigorously campaigning for the certification along

with the Department of Tourism, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Health and Department of the Interior and Local Government as specified in the DOLE-DOH-DILG-DOT-DTI Joint Memorandum Circular 21-01. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
