APPO launches 'Kasimbayanan' for safe, peaceful 2022 polls

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) launched the Kasimbayanan campaign, February 24, at the police headquarters in Bugante Point, Brgy. 4, here in pursuit of a safe and peaceful May 2022 elections.

“Kasimbayanan,” an acronym for Kawani, Simbahan, at Pamayanan, was coined by the police force in recognition to the importance of collaboration between the uniformed services, the religious sector and community groups to ensure an electoral process that is free from violence and corruption.

APPO provincial director Col. Alexander G. Mariano led the Kasimbayanan campaign kick-off that was highlighted by the Pledge of Commitment to a Secure, Accurate, Free, and Fair Elections (SAFE 2022).

“Let us act together as one family to a commitment that we will perform professionally for this peaceful election,” he said.

Mariano also emphasized that the campaign is a joint effort to promote strong partnerships towards a progressive community.

Present during the event were representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Commission on Elections (Comelec), national government agencies, members of the media, civilian groups, the Islam community and the Christian church.

In his message, Bishop of San Jose de Antique Most Rev. Marvyn A. Maceda called on poll aspirants to exercise “principled politics” or politics that is Gospel-based and rooted in Christian virtues. 

“We lead our people and ourselves to prayer and discernment so that our actions may be consistent with the Gospel values of peace, love, service, justice, and truth – all for the common good,” he added. (AAL/BPS/PIA Antique)
