QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (PRRD) on Friday has ordered the Armed Force of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to ensure orderly, clean and peaceful elections nationwide.
Duterte vowed not to allow any election-related violence to occur during the national and local elections in May, especially under his administration.
“Do not do it kasi I will see to it na itong eleksyon na ito ay malinis at walang dayaan, walang patayan sa panahon ko,” Duterte during the Cabinet Report with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.
As the commander-in-chief, Duterte assured the public that this coming election will be free from fear as he vows to protect the sanctity of the people’s votes.
Duterte reminded the politicians to never use violence to force the people in electing them.
“Look, if the people do not like you, do not force yourself into their lives. You create an artificial scenery there (that the) environment will not be conducive for fair and honest election,” PRRD added.
Duterte reiterated he will not endorse any presidential candidate to stay neutral.
“Until now, I have yet to decide whether or not to support a candidate. At this time, nobody’s in my mind actually,” Duterte said. (JAFD/PIA-IDPD)
