BFP pushes safety drive in Antique villages

SAN JOSE, Antique  (PIA) - -  The Bureau of Fire Protection pushes the implementation of Ligtas Pamayanan in Antique villages to campaign on the prevention of destructive fires.

Provincial Fire Marshal CInsp Joeffrey T. Animas, in a press conference, underscored the importance of community preparedness in fire prevention.

He also cited the vigilance of everyone and encouraged them to report any fire occurrences at the earliest possible time to save lives and properties.

In Valderrama town, FO3 Gil P Filaro III said that the local BFP brought its services and awareness-building activities to Barangay Buluangan I of the said town.

BFP Valderrama headed by SFO2 Ashley J. Cerna conducted a feeding program for children of less privileged families and some are members of Indigenous People, the Iraynon Bukidnon.

The activity has engaged the community to support fire prevention initiatives and introduce to them their vital role in BFP’s program "Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan."

Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan is a strategy of the BFP to help the community identify fire hazards in their barangay and plan the course of action of the barangay council during an emergency while the responder is on its way.

Fillaro said that the simple and unique way of engaging with the locals in Barangay Buluangan I has given them so many insights in the implementation of Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan.

Aside from the community outreach program, BFP Valderrama also conducted firetruck visibility and caravan to raise community awareness on fire prevention.

This year’s celebration theme is "Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa." (JBG/BFP/PSM/PIA-Antique)
