BFP Naga to intesify community involvement on fire safety

NAGA CITY (PIA - - The Naga City Central Fire Station (NCCFS) has urged communities to be actively involved on fire safety awareness and programs.

Acting Director Senior Inspector Peter Paul Mendoza said personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) have initiated activities and programs to educate the community about fire safety and make them part of attaining a zero-fire incident in their localities'

This year, the NCCFS conducted a motorcade as a kick-off activity with the theme “Bumbero at Pamayanan, Magsangga, Nagdadamayan" as part of the Fire Prevention Month observance.

Mendoza said they will strengthen information dissemination campaign and ensure the active participation and involvement of the community in all their activities.

“Although we’re observing Fire Prevention Month every year, we want to remind everyone that fire consciousness and safety is a year-round concern. We are here to remind them that we need their support to avoid any fire incidence to save lives and properties,” Mendoza said.

Some of the activities include series of Community Fire Protection Planning (CFPP) involving 25 barangays in the city, the KAISA partnership campaign or a call-to-action against Destructive Fire campaign, fire safety awareness through public address, distribution of infographics and advocacy posters and the conduct of BFP Community Relations Week (COMRES) involving the city schools in the city.

NCCFS also called on participants for various competitions: poster-making contest, digital arts making contest and essay writing.  The invitation is open to all Junior and Senior High School students. Contest duration is from March 7 to 10.  Entries will be submitted to the NCCFS office.

On the last week of the month, NCCFS officials will start its intensified media/publicity campaigns through quad media partnership, guesting and interview, posting of fire safety tips on their official social media pages, and maximizing the social media thru their Facebook live streaming on fire safety tips.

The month-long fire prevention activities also include the announcement of winners who made it to the competition, fun bike dubbed as “Padyak laban sa Sunog” and Zumba with the theme “Indak Laban sa Sunog.” (PIA5/Camarines Sur)
