PHO reminds school stakeholders to follow health protocols

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) -- The Provincial Health Office reminds the public particularly stakeholders in the schools to strictly practice health and safety protocols following the opening of limited face-to-face classes.

In spite of the    lowering of COVID-19 cases and the relaxation of some of the protocols, PH Officer 1 Dr. Meliarazon Dulay said the threat of the COVID-19 is still here and people including children who are attending face-to-face classes in the different schools could be still infected with the virus.

“Our advice is always follow the minimum public health standards, always wear masks and distancing, and if the children are symptomatic huwag na natin silang papasukin and this is for the benefit of everybody,” Dulay to enjoins  parents, students, teachers, non-teaching personnel and other stakeholders.

School officials particularly teachers are reminded to always ensure that learners wear their facemasks properly while attending classes and that protocols set by the Department of Health, Dept. of Education and the local government units are strictly adhered to.

Parents should not allow their children to go to the schools when they feel and show flu-like symptoms such as cough and colds to ensure safety of those inside the schools.

“Pwedeng hindi yan COVID pero since it is a respiratory symptoms pwedeng maka hawa ng kaklase at iyong mga nandun sa school,” she said.

Dulay also encouraged parents to let their children be vaccinated and be protected against the possible severe effects of the COVID-19.  The more people getting vaccinated means more will be protected in the communities,” she said.

The provincial government thru the PHO and the different municipalities and municipal health offices are conducting vaccination activities for all age groups including the pediatric groups 5 to 11 years old.

DepEd Benguet Schools Division Superintendent Gloria Buya-ao said that at least 130 schools of the 291 applicants for the expanded limited face-to-face classes opened last week after the DepEd-CAR allowed the face-to-face classes in the Cordillera region.
