KSU plans f2f classes, graduation

CITY  OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) -- The Kalinga State University (KSU)  is considering  to implement hybrid face-to-face classes and  conduct onsite graduation  in  May or June  following the downgrading of the alert level status of Kalinga to alert level 1.

During a press conference hosted by a local radio station in Tabuk City recently, KSU President Dr. Eduardo Bagtang said that they are writing the Inter-Agency Task Force for their suggestions on what is the best mode of delivery to be implemented by the university.

"We will see kung ano ang best na ma-deliver 'yung instruction and education to our students.’Pag nagbago ang alert level natin, 'pag tumaas ng 3, automatic suspension na 'yun nung face-to-face," Bagtang said.

Commission on Higher Education Chairperson Dr. J. Prospero De Vera III has stressed the importance of getting vaccinated to be able to conduct face-to-face classes and graduation ceremonies.

"Ang best assurance na magka-graduation, kung bakunado lahat. Kasi ang incidence ng transmission ay bababa tsaka komportable ka kasi kung alam mong ang katabi mo ay hindi vaccinated, baka hindi ka umattend ng graduation, siyempre, may behavioral aspect 'yan," De Vera said.

The KSU logged an 86% vaccination rate. The management assured the continuous vaccination campaign to reach 100% vaccination rate.

The CHED earlier approved the implementation of onsite classes in all degree programs starting December last year depending on the alert level.

"Ang general policy is flexible learning, meaning, the schools will decide what is the appropriate delivery system. Some may opt for online and face-to-face, some may opt for offline and face-to-face, some may opt for full online, some may opt for full face-to-face," the Commissioner said.

He added that it is the discretion of the schools what mode of delivery they will implement as long as they follow the minimum public health standards.

For areas under alert level 3, 30% capacity of the facility is allowed for face-to-face learning, 50% for alert level 2, while 100% is allowed on areas under alert level 1. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
