MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)--Some 100 barangay health workers in Jasaan town, here were recipients for awards and tokens during “Parangal for Women Frontliners,” March 11.
“Dako gyud ang pagsalig ni President Digong sa atong women frontliners ug sa women, in general (President Digong trusts our women frontliners and the women, in general),” Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Presidential Communications Secretary Martin M. Andanar said.
He shared that the health workers can see it in the policies of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has in his administration such as the strengthening of Magna Carta for Women and signing of a law that expands the maternity leave from 60 to 105 days.
Recently, enactment of Republic Act No. 11648 took place, which raises the age of sexual consent from 12 years of age to 16. Andanar said this provides extra protection against rape and sexual exploitation and abuse.
Further, he said enactment of this law relates to the celebration of the National Women’s Month. Andanar honored the women present for the role they serve in the society. He said he expresses utmost respect for women because for one, he and everyone would not be there if not for their mothers who light the home and discipline the children. He also shared that her mother sacrificed so much for him and his siblings, and he honors his wife for raising his two children.
In the event, tokens of appreciation were given to 100 women recipients. Andanar awarded the tokens together with Jasaan Municipal Mayor Redentor S. Jardin, Vice Mayor Jannus Ray Estor, and Lawyer Glenn Albert Ocampo, who leads the Gender and Development Focal Point System.
“Parangal for Women Frontliners” is a series of gift-giving programs of PCOO through its Gender and Development Focal Point System and organized as a way to honor and give gratitude to the frontliners. (IJBD/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
