DICT launches Digital Transformation Center in Iligan

ILIGAN CITY--The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) headed up a program here as it launched Digital Transformation Center (DTC) at City Hall, Buhanginan Hills, Pala-o, March 18.

DICT-10 Regional Director Sittie Rahma Alawi said during the program that the DTC serves as a co-working space open to all sectors of the society.

“It (DTC) is an infrastructure equipped with the latest multi-purpose technologies that may cater to a wide range of audiences from local policymakers and city administrators, distance learners and open university practitioners," she said.

According to her, the center can also support start-up and rural impact developers, technopreneurs, applications and content developers, researchers, and network engineers, as well as those not fairly exposed or have no access to ICT such as elementary and secondary students, indigenous people, and differently (abled) people.

Meanwhile, provincial officer of DICT Engineer Eugene Raposala III informed that anyone can use the center by setting up a schedule beforehand for an organized accommodation.

“If they (people) want to avail, they just have to contact us here because we are precedently located (here). Then, they just call us for a schedule, kasi naka schedule lahat ng gagamit [ since users are arranged based on schedules] so we really want to schedule them so that everyone can really use the center,” he said.

The DICT officials also invite the Iliganons to be involved in the transformation of the city through engaging into DTC’s initiatives and projects. (ASK/PIA Iligan)
