MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) here partook in the new clustering approach that will pave the way for the creation of disaster risk reduction management (DRRM) plans.
The council has adopted during its first quarter regular meeting Tuesday, March 22, the eleven cluster approach to strengthen system-wide preparedness and technical capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies and provide clear leadership and accountability in the main areas of humanitarian response.
The clusters include camp coordination and management, early recovery, education, emergency telecommunications, food security, health, logistics, nutrition, protection, shelter, and water, sanitation and hygiene.
The members also concurred with the proposal of creating various technical working groups (TWGs) whose members are chosen according to their expertise in risk reduction and management.
A TWG for the formulation of local disaster risk reduction and management (LDRRM) will be chaired by the PDRRMO with Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) and non-government organization Community and Family Services International (CFSI) as members.
For the TWG for the formulation of local climate change adaptation (LCCA) plan, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) will act as the chair with members which include Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), PNP, Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ministry of Public Works (MPW), Lanao del Sur People's Council (LDSPC), BFP, Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) and Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD).
Additional TWG is for the formulation of a contingency plan which will be headed by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) with PSWDO as the co-chair and members, to wit, Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), Ministry of Health (MOH), Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), BFP, AFP, Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC), CFSI, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Meanwhile, the TWG for the communication plan was decided to have members namely, Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), CFSI, Maranao People Development Center (MARADECA), Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), Provincial Information Office (PIO), and Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
