BANGUED, Abra (PIA) - - The Department of Social Welfare and Development – Cordillera released livelihood assistance to qualified beneficiaries of the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pagasa Program (BP2) to help them start life in the province.
DSWD-CAR focal person Christopher Dayaoen said 25 BP2 family recipients, mostly from Bucay, availed a total of P1, 019,465.00 under DSWD’s Sustained Livelihood Program. Each family was given an average of P50, 000.00 cash assistance as start-up capital mostly for sari-sari store and loading station.
The livelihood assistance is part of the P2.46M allotted to the 35 returning families. They were earlier given a transitory package amounting to P1, 452,900.00 covering the basic needs of the families such as food, payment for rent and bills, among others.
The beneficiaries were listed under DSWD-CAR’s BP2 qualified families in 2021. They underwent validation and assessment but went home earlier and were not formally dispatched to their respective local government units.
For this year’s BP2 beneficiaries, 10 families in the municipalities of Bucay, Tubo, Lagangilang, and Danglas were already assessed as potential BP2 recipients while 10 from Bucay are ongoing assessment.
Moreover, the municipality of Bucay is a recipient of an isolation facility worth P7.5M to cover 21 barangays in the area. It is expected to be completed until June this year as the agency requested exemption from the Commission on Elections at the national level.
The DSWD-CAR’s BP2 program is lodged with the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services National Community Driven Development. (JDP/SCA-PIA CAR, Abra)
