Dgte gives cash aid to indigents

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, March 25 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City government has distributed additional cash assistance of P500 each to 35,000 indigent families, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWD).

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) started the cash distribution to qualified recipients in all 30 barangays.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said the qualified recipients were identified and listed by the barangay officials.

The beneficiaries included 20,049 indigent families, 11,168 senior citizens, and 1,222 PWDs as verified by the CSWDO as they belong to the most vulnerable sectors seriously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This latest grant of financial assistance to qualified residents of Dumaguete City is in addition to the 20 kilos or rice subsidy given to each of the 32,000 households this month,” Remollo said.  (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
