Dgte grants cash aid to home owners hit by TY Odette

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Jan. 26 (PIA) -- Around 437 owners of houses in the city destroyed by Typhoon Odette will be granted financial assistance.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo approved the list of damaged houses submitted by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and barangay officials.

The release of financial assistance will be in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Local Budget Circular No. 141 that governs the downloaded funds by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office and Department of Interior and Local Government.

Members of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) along with the Typhoon Odette Post Disaster Needs Assessment Team from the different national government agencies discussed the reports on damage and proposals to provide relief to those severely-affected by the calamity.  

City DRRM Office reported that the typhoon caused an estimated P2.6 million damage to infrastructure, electrical material, and other local government facilities; P850,000 for the material recovery facility; and P1 million in losses to agricultural production. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
