DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 5 (PIA) -- The Dumaguete City Health Office (CHO) has reported that the city has zero COVID-19 cases for the past five days as of April 4.
Of the city’s 30 component barangays, 29 have no active COVID-19 cases as of April 4.
City Health Officer Dr. Sarah Talla said the lone remaining active COVID-19 case, a 73-year-old unvaccinated resident of Poblacion 8, is confined in the hospital.
Talla also said the CHO has sent out health workers to conduct house-to-house vaccination against COVID-19 for residents who are unable or have difficulties going to the vaccination centers.
The medical team composed of doctor, nurse, and barangay health worker (BHW) administered shots to senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and residents who cannot make it to the identified vaccination centers.
Meanwhile, inoculation for 5-11 years old children are ongoing at Robinson Place Dumaguete; 12-17 years old at Foundation University Gymnasium and for adults is scheduled on Monday to Friday at 8:00am-5:00pm.
Due to the declining number of COVID-19 active cases and high vaccination rate of 129% of the target population or 139,248 of its residents and workers, Dumaguete City has now been placed under the lowest classification Alert Level 1.
Both Talla and Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo welcomed this development, but still urged the public to remain vigilant and strictly observe the minimum health standards to prevent COVID-19 infection. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
