The local government unit of Tubungan in coordination with the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board initiated the capability enhancement trainings on vegetable and cattle production and entrepreneurship and productivity for PDLs.
DOLE 6 Regional Director lawyer Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. lauded the municipality of Tubungan for availing the DOLE’s livelihood programs, as well as the assistance provided by partner agencies such as the Public Employment Service Office, Philippine Army, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, National Commission on Indigenous People, and Department of the Interior and Local Government.
“Convergence of various government agencies in the realization of programs and projects is essential to make you aware that the government is doing something to end poverty. Poverty makes us vulnerable to influences. But through this livelihood project, if sustained, you can be self-reliant and productive, not only for yourselves but also for your association and the community,” Rodriguez said, emphasizing on the projects’ sustainability.
In support to the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict pursuant to Executive Order No. 70, the projects were realized to prioritize and harmonize the delivery of basic services and social development packages in conflict-affected areas and vulnerable communities, facilitate societal inclusivity, and ensure active participation of all sectors of society in the pursuit of the country’s peace agenda.
