ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – After months of rehabilitation work and delays brought about by the pandemic and bad weather, the city government here has now opened the newly renovated Anahaw Amphitheater.
The amphitheater has a seating capacity of 7,000 people and is considered to be one of the largest open amphitheaters in the whole of Mindanao.
Aside from beautifying the amphitheater, improvements were also done to ensure the safety of the people.
“It started with the concept of safety first. In all infrastructures of the government safety is the first consideration. We have seen that the amphitheater has become very unsafe for our people, especially for our visitors during big events,” Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz.
Since the amphitheater is located in the City Hall Compound, apart from various activities in the city, the flag-raising ceremony will also be held there.
“Natuman na gyud ang pagdawat nato kining maong pag-ayo sa atong amphitheater diri sa City Hall. Karon nia na gyud og akong i-announce, (sa) lunes, init ulan, ato nang i-conduct atong flag raising ceremony diri sa amphitheater,” said mayor Celso Regencia
[Finally, the renovation of our amphitheater here at the city hall has been completed. I announce that starting on Monday, rain or shine, we will conduct our flag-raising ceremony at the amphitheater.]
Started in March 2021, the repair of the Anahaw Amphitheater was funded by the Department of Budget and Management through Local Government Support Fund Assistance to the cities in the fiscal year 2019 General Appropriations Act. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
