SORSOGON CITY (PIA) --The Department of Public Works and Highways Sorsogon 2nd District Engineering Office (DPWH-2DEO) caused the programming, funding and implementation of a vital infrastructure project in Barangay Genablan Oriental in Matnog, Sorsogon designed to mitigate the effects of flooding and inundation.
The drainage project constructed in the said barangay was envisioned to contain gush and likewise programmed to serve as buffer of protection to the community that is frequently besieged by flooding.
Brgy. Genablan Oriental is situated near the seacoast of Matnog wherein frequent high tide and upsurge caused worries and inconveniences to the coastline dwellers.
Torrential rainfall likewise caused abrupt flooding that overwhelms a sizeable portion of the coastal community, hence, it posed a problem to the residents.
Said infrastructure project was allotted with 2M pesos funding and was entrusted to Double R Construction and Supply as contractor and was completed within 90 calendar days timetable.
With an accomplished length of 282 lineal meters the drainage is now capable of diverting flood to a catchment area or river basin thereby forestalling inundation to the coastline community. (PIA 5/Sorsogon/Harry Deri, DPWHSorsogon2DEO)
