DOST Ifugao partners with LGUs, schools for CEST

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) - - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is continuously providing various assistance to organizations in the province in line with its agenda of promoting science and technology for the people.


 Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) Ifugao has partnered with the local government unit (LGU) of Kiangan for the provision of science and technology intervention to the Aldattan ad Pindongan Organic Farmers Association (APOFA).


 The LGU and PSTC Ifugao will collaborate to provide processing equipment, technology training, packaging and labelling assistance and laboratory analysis to the vegetable-enhanced noodles production of the APOFA.


The DOST – CAR through the PSTC – Ifugao also partnered with the LGU of Mayoyao, Alimit Farmers Association, Mayoyao Central School, Tulaed National High School and the elementary schools of Magulon and Balangbang  for the implementation of the  Community Enhancement thru Science and Technology (CEST) projects  in the  municipality    to help improve the living condition of the people.


The project entails the provision and transfer of technology-based projects through economic development, and nutrition, human resource development, environmental protection and conservation, and disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.


 The DOST-CAR will provide assistance for the establishment of a corn processing facility for Limit Farmers Association including technology training to the beneficiaries and initial packaging.


Complementary food packs will be provided also to compliment the municipality's supplemental feeding program for 50 nutritionally deficient 6-71 months old children in support to the municipality’s health and nutrition program.


The CEST also supports the basic education   and enhance access to S&T information by giving STARBOOKS to five schools. It also promotes environmental protection/conservation through the adaption of environment-friendly technology and the improvement of Radio Communication Network.


 The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to DOST-CAR for the continuous support through the S&T projects and programs provided to them. They hope that all of the 27 barangays of Mayoyao will benefit from the programs and projects of the agency. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
