BANGUED, Abra (PIA) - - The Department of Agriculture – Cordillera recently turned over agri-based livelihood assistance to three principal beneficiaries in the province under the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pagasa (BP2) program of the government.
The BP2 program is a socio-economic program of the current administration in support to the decongestion of urban areas encouraging informal sectors including those whose employment were affected by the pandemic to return to the provinces.
The beneficiaries who returned home to La Paz and validated by DA-CAR were Flor Jimenez, Katherine Sorebillo and Richard Tabora.
The DA-CAR led by its Field Operations Division Chief Virginia Tapat turned over some P50, 000.00 worth of livelihood assistance package to each of the beneficiaries last April 13 in La Paz. The assistance include free range chicken, poultry feeds, vegetable seeds like pechay, peanut, sitting beans, feeding trough, net for poultry enclosure including farm implements such as bolo, grub hoe, a roll of garden house, drum, and watering cans.
DA-CAR BP2 Assistant Focal Person Crisante Rosario said this is a short-term intervention of the extended by the department under its farm diversification and livelihood development support program. Beneficiaries will be trained to sustain the production and management of the project.
To date, DA-CAR has already assisted eight BP2 beneficiaries. One is from Bangued, four from Lagangilang and these three beneficiaries from La Paz.
Under the BP2 program, concerned agencies have also interventions to support the returning families who plan to finally settle in the province. (JDP/SCA-PIA CAR, Abra)
