DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 19 (PIA) -- The Department of Health (DOH) has formally turned over to the Dumaguete City government the P10.7-million newly-built City Health Office-2 satellite clinic located in a 1k sqm. lot of the city in Brgy. Talay on April 18.
The health clinic will cater to residents in the adjacent barangays of Talay, Junob, Balugo, Batinguel, Candau-ay, Cadawinonan, Camanjac, Cantil-e, and Bajumpandan for those who need consultation, medical treatment, and delivery for pregnant women.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said the city really needs to expand its health facilities due to some chronic and impending diseases while the population is growing and the existing facility is no longer sufficient.
Both the DOH and city government have allocated funds at P9 million for the provision of equipment and other medical apparatus, which also include hospital beds for OB ward, delivery tables, nebulizers among others.
City Health Officer Dr. Sarah Talla said this is also to decongest the influx of client-patients in the main City Health Office located in the poblacion area.
Talla said the services offered in the clinic are still the same services offered in the main clinic which includes family planning, birthing home, dental services, consultation, sanitation service, and laboratory.
“For now, we have scheduled health workers to assign here including the doctors, nurses, midwife, barangay health workers, nursing attendants, utility and other personnel," she said.
The mayor said the health clinic can also serve resident-patients outside the city like the nearby towns of Bacong and Valencia (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
