DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July 13 (PIA) -- A total of 30,000 households is expected to receive rice subsidy at 10 kilos per bag in the city.
The city government has allocated an amount of P13.3 million from its surplus to fund the rice purchase.
The national government’s pandemic task force has placed Dumaguete City and entire the province of Negros Oriental under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) due to the surge of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said the rice subsidy aims to provide assistance to the households amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
This will be the fifth wave of rice subsidy given by the city to 30,000 households in 30 barangays.
The barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials will help in the orderly distribution of rice to the household beneficiaries once the government procurement process will be completed. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
