TADIAN, Mountain Province (PIA)--The Department of Science and Technology continues to conduct technology transfer trainings to its clients.
The DOST-Cordillera thru its Provincial Center – Mountain Province conducted on April 21 to 22 training on “Veggie-Bread Production, Forum on GMP, Product Costing and Packaging and Labelling” for 34 Grade 12 students of the Tadian School of Arts and Trades here.
Provincial Science and Technology Director Alfonso K. Berto said that the training aims to transfer the technology of veggie bread production using available vegetables such as squash which are rich in vitamins. It also provides the participants an avenue to learn specialized skill for potential business venture or for employment.
“The skills training we are having today will help the students in their future life. For example, they do not want to go to college, at least they already have the basic idea on bread and pastry so that they can establish their business,” Berto said.
For the first day of the training, Ruth C. Ngaseo and Lucille S. Albing demonstrated the process on how to bake squash and sweet potato pan-de-yema, afterwhich the participants had their return demostration.
The second day focused on lectures by DOST personnel on Packaging and Labeling by Berto, Good Manufacturing Practices by Kevin A. Angadol, and Product Costing by Fhely D. Membrere.
Berto assured that DOST is ready to conduct more similar trainings for students as well as provide assistance to those who would want to go into business particularly on food production.
“For those individual students who will be engaging in business particularly on food production or veggie-bread production, you can just visit our office for us to give services that needed for everyone” he said. (JDP/VJLT-PIA CAR, Mt. Province)
