DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, April 27 (PIA) -- Over 700 residents in Manjuyod town and their neighbouring municipalities are expected to avail of or receive relief assistance and services during the Duterte Legacy Caravan on Labor Day, May 1, at the Manjuyod Gymnasium.
The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) along with other government agencies is set to bring various services to showcase and promote the programs and legacies of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
Police Community Affairs Development Unit (PCADU) Assistant Officer PLt. Nelmer Miravalles, in a coordination meeting, said that during the event, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will offer its services such as free haircut, manicure, pedicure, foot massage, and distribute IEC materials.
Miravalles said the police force will also distribute loot bags containing assorted biscuits and candies and bundle of groceries to 100 children and 350 families, respectively from the contribution funds of P112,000 collected from all the police stations in the province.
Pairs of slippers in different sizes will also be handed out, including the Department of Interior and Local Government's (DILG) 45 buckets full of groceries for indigent women, farm seeds from the agriculture department, among others.
The event will also be held simultaneously in 25 police stations in the province.
During the caravan, some former communist rebels will give a message to enlighten and educate the participants about the atrocities of terrorist groups to prevent them, especially the youth, from falling prey to such acts.
Other agencies involved include the Department of Health, DILG, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Information Agency, Department of Agriculture, Land Transportation Office, Department of Agrarian Reform, among others.
