Back2back congress for councilors, livestock farmers held

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--Municipal councilors from 20 towns in the province convened in a general assembly to highlight accomplishments during the pandemic.

Provincial Philippine Councilors League Federated president Gilbert Lacida, Jr. shared the efforts implemented by their group during the pandemic.

“During the pandemic, we distributed hygiene kits and alcohols through our Oplan Tabang alcohol activity. We also shared our blessings to the community by promoting and giving importance to education. In doing so, we went to Nunungan to conduct our adopt a school program where we provided a computer set and printer with printing materials," he said.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Maria Cristina Atay said the councilors can do benchmarking at the Provincial Board or Sangguniang Panlalawigan to learn about their practices like the legislative tracking system and office branding.

Moreover, livestock farmers in the province receive farm inputs such as cows, carabaos, chickens, goats, and household items like refrigerators, and washing machines through a raffle draw during the Livestock Farmers Congress.

The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) spearheaded the said congress to also inform the livestock farmers about updates on animal disease, natural farming methods, and livestock raising.

Governor Imelda "Angging" Dimaporo said the provincial government is committed to supporting the livestock farmers to improve their lives. Hence, she reminded them to give importance to the assistance they receive.

"Kami dinhi sa probinsya, maningkamot kami nga ang inyong mga panginabuhi, makatabang ang atong gobyerno, pero unta ang gihatag na hinabang sa gobyerno ato pod lantawon, ato pod suklian ug insakto nga pag-amoma, na paggamit ug insakto na responsibilidad sa salig na gihatag sa gobyerno kaninyo," she said.

[We in the provincial government, are committed to making your lives better, but we hope that you will look at the assistance given to you, reciprocate it by taking good care of it and by using it properly, and take the responsibility that has been given to you.]

Dimaporo also lauded the efforts of PVO to prevent African Swine Fever, which devastated agricultural animals. She said the provincial government did not ignore the problem and even compensated people who were affected. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
