DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, May 1 (PIA) -- Around 2,300 job openings will be offered at the 2022 Local and Overseas Job Fair held today at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center, this city.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) leads the activity in partnership with the provincial and city Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) as part of the local observance of the 120th Labor Day celebration.
Around 22 companies are participating in the job fair, of which 19 are local companies while three are recruitment agencies for overseas work.
DOLE Negros Oriental Public Information Officer Bless De Padua hopes that many job seekers will be hired on the spot during the job fair.
“We would like to request to our participating employers if there is a possibility that we could really do hired-on-the-spots or nearly hired. This is really the intention of the job fair as we propel the economy back to the pre-pandemic (times),” De Padua said.
Dumaguete City PESO Manager Socorro Mira disclosed that as of April 29, there are 560 job seekers who registered online, but organizers and companies will also be entertaining walk-in applicants.
“All they have to do is to prepare for the initial requirements (like a) well filled-out resume, and then for those who are aspiring to apply for overseas recruitment (they should bring) at least a photocopy of their passports and photocopy of their TOR and Certificate of Employment if they have,” Mira said.
Aside from the mass hiring or recruitment at the Macias Sports Center, the livelihood fair will showcase a variety of products from DOLE-assisted organizations and associations such as coffee, salabat, seaweed crackers, and danggit.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) skills training beneficiaries will also offer free wellness services during the job fair.
There will also be a “One Stop Shop” of services from other government services like the Department of Foreign Affairs, Social Security System, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Overseas Employment Association, PhilHealth, National Bureau of Investigation, Overseas Workers Welfare Association, Professional Regulatory Commission, and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The DTI, its Negosyo Center, will also hold its business coaching to help aspiring entrepreneurs and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprisers start their business and boost their competitiveness.
