COMELEC : Antique elections prep runs smoothly, on time

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) - - Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Wil S. Arceño reported in a media conference that the election preparations in Antique went on smoothly and on time.

In a media conference with the Antique Capitol press Corps, he emphasized that the training of the Board of Election Inspectors was done on time and all the Voter Counting Machines (VCM) needed for the polling precincts have been delivered in the province.

Arceño is optimistic that the 30 remaining ballot boxes that are yet to be delivered will arrive within the week so it could catch up with the final testing and sealing of VCM on May 7, 2022.

COMELEC will conduct the final sealing and testing of VCMs in the Población for barangays that are geographically challenged to ensure the machines are ready on election day.

Arceño noted that the turnout of voters in Antique could be more than 80 percent and might be higher than in the May 2018 elections.

He reiterated his call for everyone to wear a face mask, and maintain physical distancing when inside the polling precincts.

COMELEC also urged the voters to find their polling precinct by using the COMELEC Precinct Finder Application so they could directly proceed to the precinct designated for them on May 9.

Voters are also encouraged to list down their candidates for ease and avoid delay during the voting.

Arceño also reminded the voters not to use their cellphones or take photos inside the polling precinct, noting that it is strictly prohibited.

As to the peace and order situation, he said that Antique remained peaceful while monitoring the six towns identified as areas of concern for this national and local polls. (JBG/psm/PIA-Antique)
