NGCP assures no power outage on Election Day

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) -- The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) assured that there will be no power outage on election day on May 9, 2022.

 
Alan Sandoval of the NGCP   reported during the Regional Joint Security Control Center and the Regional COMELEC Campaign Committee  meeting in May 3, that   the NGCP ensures the availability of all substation facilities and transmission lines.


 Sandoval said  that corrective works which may cause major grid interruption were completed last April 30.


The NGCP also suspended until May 16 the maintenance and testing of substation facilities/transmission lines except in extreme emergency cases.


"We have already suspended our activities with regards to maintenance and testings on our substation and transmission lines,"  he said.
 

 Sandoval  also bared the contingency plans of the NGCP to provide quality power during the election .

The NGCP will make certain the availability of capacitor banks to provide voltage support and the preparation of MegaVolt Ampere Reactive dispatch for generators as well as standby personnel.
 
"We ensure standby transmission line crew and power system maintenance personnel to attend to various troubles or problems that may affect our facilities,” Sandoval said.
