PMA honors Chied PNP with Testimonial Parade and Review

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Military Academy honored retiring Philippine National Police Chief PGen. Dionardo Carlos with a Testimonial Parade and Review at Fort del Pilar, Baguio City on May 4, 2022.

Carlos is a member of the PMA Maringal Class of 1988. He is the 27th chief PNP and is set to retire on May 8 upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.

"I am now about to end my active service, pero looking back, I tell you, I am proud to go back to my God and say, Lord, thank you for allowing me to finish strong in my more than 38 years in service," Carlos said.

He expressed his gratitude to the Academy which he said, molded him to be able to do the best that he can.

To the cadets, he emphasized three core values to guide them in their professional and personal lives.

"That's the only thing I will leave you. D, B, C. Dedication to your duty, Balance career and family life, and your Competency. Get all the training that will make you confident in the performance of your duty," Carlos stated.

He also reiterated his proposal to the PMA Alumni Association for the corps to receive and render testimonial parade and review to an alumnus who got his or her first star rank, not when they are retiring.

Meanwhile, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that they are awaiting the President's order whether to extend Carlos' tenure or a new PNP chief will be appointed.

Carlos earlier assured that the PNP will continue its task for the 2022 national and local elections on May 9, whether he steps down or his tenure will be extended. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
