Security forces ready for 2022 polls in North, CL

TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- Military and police affirmed their readiness in ensuring a safe, accurate, free and fair 2022 National and Local Elections in Regions 1,2,3 and Cordillera.
 
Armed Forces of the Philippines Northern Luzon Command Commander Lieutenant General Ernesto Torres Jr. stressed that uniformed personnel were deployed in strategic locations all over Northern and Central Luzon to augment in case of election-related incidents, and to ensure the security of polling centers and the safety of voters. 

A total of 3,002 soldiers consisting of 91 officers, 2,280 personnel, and 631 reserve troops were already deployed to various polling stations.

“Checkpoints and visibility within the prescribed distance from the polling precincts, together with Philippine National Police, were also conducted at pre-designated areas to have control of the situation and prevent any hostile intentions from occurring,” Torres noted. 
 
For its part, Area Police Command-Northern Luzon Commander Police Lieutenant General Rodolfo Azurin emphasized that they will not allow violence, terror, and intimidation to happen during the entire electoral process from voting to canvassing to proclamation.

“We [security forces] will ensure the voters that they can go to their voting precincts, cast their votes, and go home safely,” he added. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
