Baguio voters reelect the city's top 3 officials

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The people of Baguio gave a fresh mandate to the city’s incumbent top officials in Monday’s elections.


Congressman Mark Go, Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan were re – elected for another three year term. Magalong and Olowan are into their second term while Go is on his third term as Baguio’s representative in Congress.


Go got 99,372 votes, Magalong got 70,342 votes and Olowan got 65,897 votes, winning by big margin over their closest rivals.

For the City Council, the elected councilors in their respective ranking are Benny Bomogao, Jose Molintas, Arthur Allad – iw, Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Leandro Yangot, Isabelo “Popo” Cosalan, Maria Mylen Victoria Yaranon, Elmer Datuin, Peter Fianza and re-electionists Vladimir Cayabas, Fred Bagbagen and Lilia Fariñas.

 

All the elected Baguio officials were officially proclaimed by the City Board of Canvassers – Baguio Election Officer Reyman Solbita (chairperson), City Prosecutor Conrado Catral Jr (vice chairperson) and   Baguio School Division Superintendent Federico Martin (Board Secretary) morning of May 10 at the Baguio Convention Center.


The three top  officials  expressed gratitude  to the  people for their  overwhelming thrust and confidence on them  as they assured to  work to bring about a better Baguio.


Go  said he will  deliver  results by continuing to  push  forward the interest of Baguio and its people while . Magalong and Olowan   said with guided by  their  campaign of good governance beyond politics,  and  with the support of the people, they will  focus on their goal of bringing a better Baguio for this generation and beyond.


For 2022 National and Local Elections,  139,461  out of the  168,218 registered voters in the city of Baguio  exercised their right to vote  for a 82.90 percent voters’ turnout. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
