CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, May 19 (PIA) - - The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Cordillera Administrative Region (BFAR-CAR) is inviting students interested to take fishery-related courses to apply in the the BFAR Fisheries Scholarship Program for Academic Year 2023-2024
Saraj Jean Biyang of the Provincial Fishery Office said the Program offers a degree in Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and there are three types of scholarship grant. These are Fisheries Industry Leaders Grant (FSP-FILG), Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FSP-FCEG) and grant for Indigenous Cultural Communities or Indigenous People.
For the FSP-FCEG, the the parents or guardian of the applicant must be a fisherfolk registred with the Juan Magsasaka Registration System . For the FSP-ICC/IP, the applicant must be a member of IP/ICC recognized by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.
Biyag said the top 20 from the FSP-FCEG, top three each from FSP-FILG and the grant for IPs will automatically become scholars in the region.
Qualifications and application form can be accessed at the BFAR CAR facebook page or applicants may visit the BFAR office in the province. Application is open until July this year.
Biyang said qualified applicants will take the exams on a date and venue to be announced later.
Meanwhile, under for the scholarshp program for Academic Year 2022-2023, the qualified applicants have already been oriented by BFAR CAR and had signed their scholarship contract. They compose the 27th batch of scholars under FILG, 14th under FCEG and 3rd batch under ICC. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
