TSU continues assistance to entreps

TARLAC CITY (PIA) -- Tarlac State University (TSU) stressed its unceasing assistance in the business start-ups and sustainability of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

It gives free customized training, seminars, consultancy services and technical assistance depending on the needs of MSMEs.

“We never stopped providing our MSMEs various capacity activities, such as engaging with customers via online platforms and use of computer applications, to help them cope with the effects of COVID-19. We provide online coaching on how to sustain business operations amid the pandemic,” TSU President Arnold Velasco said.

Velasco also highlighted the P2.59 million project, in partnership with the municipal government of Camiling, for the product and packaging standardization of Chicharon Camiling under Department of Science and Technology’s Project Municipal Innovation through Science and Technology.

It aims to help Chicharon Camiling become the first Tarlac product to pass the Philippine National Standards.

“The project team is now on the mapping process to educate the manufacturers on the scientific techniques and equipment that would help them maintain the quality of their product. Upon the arrival of equipment, we will do a project testing on the quality and packaging of Chicharon Camiling,” Velasco stated.

Apart from this, TSU offers free assistance on electrical safety at facility construction and design through the College of Engineering; and website development and management through the College of Computer Studies.

Moreover, College of Business Administration trains MSMEs on production, production management, marketing, business planning and management, accounting, project costing, and business sustainability.

“For food business operators, we have training on food safety, food business regulatory compliance, and product registration. We also give free technical assistance on the process and product improvement, packaging and labelling, and production of promotional materials like brochures and catalogue,” he explained.

Lastly, TSU established the Food Technology and Research Center to cater students, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders on the development, production and commercialization of functional food and intermediate food products. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
