Magsaysay town holds a simple celebration for founding anniv

MAGSAYSAY, Lanao del Norte (PIA) – Residents here joined a parade to celebrate the 57th Founding Anniversary of their municipality and 25th Araw ng Magsaysay’s Niyogan Festival on Monday. 

Mayor Haron "Dondon" Omar Sr. said the local government hopes the celebration will be festive and vibrant next year.

“Sa sunod tuig 2023, among paningkamutan nga mas mobibo pa ang pagsaulog sa atong Araw ng Magsaysay. Sa karaon wala kaayo kita nakapangandam kay gikan pa ta sa pandemic. Padayon ang atong panaghiusa para sa atong kalambuan sa lungsod,” he said

[Next year 2023, we will try to make our celebration of Araw ng Magsaysay more vibrant. So far we are not very prepared because of the pandemic. We should continue to unite for the development of our town.]

Teachers from the Department of Education also performed during the program showcasing the harmony between Christians and Muslims.  

The lineup of Omar also held a Kandori (Thanksgiving) to convey gratitude for the support and trust given to them by the residents. Incumbent and newly-proclaimed board members of the 2nd district of the province also attended the celebration together with incoming Vice Governor Allan Lim.   

In a message delivered through a letter by Governor Imelda “Angging” Dimaporo, she conveyed gratitude to all the residents who supported the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) Team Quibranza-Dimaporo. She also encouraged them to work hand-in-hand for the progress and development of the province. 

Meanwhile, Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)-10 Regional Director Zoraida Omar-Macadindang, was elated to celebrate the founding anniversary of her hometown. In her message, she also highlighted the joint project of DAR and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development dubbed “Building Adequate, Livable, Affordable and Inclusive Filipino Communities” for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Magsaysay and Kolambugan municipalities. According to her, the project aims to provide access to affordable housing units and livelihood for ARBs.
