BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is about to complete the improvement of the Baan Bridge in Kayapa town for the safety and comfort of commuters.
Engineer Marlyn Inguillo, Nueva Vizcaya Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-NVSDEO) District Engineer, said the Baan Bridge improvement is part of their mandate to preserve assets through retrofitting and strengthening of bridges.
He said the Baan Bridge improvement project along the Nueva Vizcaya-Benguet Road in Barangay Baan in Kayapa town is now undergoing works that include the installation of 176.51 square meters Carbon Fiber Sheets on Deckslab and installation of 14.08 square meters Carbon Fiber Plates on Steel Girders, Bracings, Pier Copping and Abutment Bearing Plates and application of protective coating.
Inguillo said the retrofitting of the Baan Bridge which was started in February 16, 2022 is expected to be completed this month.
“It has recorded an actual accomplishment of 73.88% as of to date, the strengthening of the Baan Bridge will ensure the preservation of its reliable condition. Once completed, it would withstand additional pressure from the vehicles passing by,” she said.
The Baan Bridge improvement project was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) for Calendar Year 2022, with an appropriation of P4.6-million.
“Kayapa is known as one of the main producers of vegetables and different crops in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. Completing this project will keep the mobility of transporting farmers’ products and crops to the market giving opportunity to grow their local agri-economy,” Inguillo said. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
