LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) - -The Ifugao Provincial Department of Health invites parents and guardians to have their children vaccinated on routine and catch-up immunization during the Chikiting Bakunation Days every Thursday and Friday this whole month of June.
Provincial DOH officer Agustina Noces said the Chikiting Bakunation Days is intended for children aged zero to 23 months old who have missed out and have not yet received any routine vaccine against polio, measles, hepatitis B, pneumonia, and other vaccine preventable diseases or non-COVID diseases.
“This is a strategy for us to reach the children who will be having their vaccination on the routine and catch-up immunization because the report shows that a number of children are not yet vaccinated on the other vaccines,” Noces said.
The routine and catch-up immunization drive was launched in Banaue recently by the DOH and the provincial health office.
Noces likewise urged those who are not yet vaccinated against COVID-19 to get their vaccines. She disclosed that seven municipalities in Ifugao have not reached the 70% vaccination rate for COVID-19 that is why the province remains under Alert Level II.
To help achieve the target vaccination coverage, the DOH led the conduct a five-day Last Mile Vaccination Convergence Activity last month focused in the municipalities of Asipulo, Aguinaldo, Banaue, Hingyon, Hungduan, Mayoyao, and Tinoc. Reports show that the Ifugao Vaccination team was able to administer 394 jabs -157 first dose, 63 second dose, 159 first booster, and 15 second booster.
As of the May 31, 2022 vaccine statistics of CAR, Ifugao with a target population of 172,134(80% of 2022 projected population) has 57.54% partially vaccinated and 92,584 or 53.79% fully vaccinated population. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
