DOST’s iFWDPh to benefit former OFWs

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The Department of Science & Technology- Provincial Science and Technology (DOST-PSTC) here has announced that two of the three OFWs in Quirino who graduated from the Phase I of the Innovation for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippine (iFWDPh) Program were already assessed for possible innovation funding.

During the evaluation and technology needs assessment conducted by DOST 2 and PSTC Quirino to the 2-OFWs who graduated from the Phase I of the iFWDPh.

The IFWD PH project has two phases, the Capability Building and Innovation funding for the establishment of an enterprise.


Science Research Specialist Daisy Simon said Emerson Llapitan and Chylene Gay Baris, both from Cabarroguis applied for funding after completing the series of trainings.


Simon said that the iFWD PH Program is intended to provide opportunity to OFWs and their families to establish technology-based enterprises.


"This year, we will now implement Phase II of the said program to realize the OFWs' business plans proposed during the Phase I," Simon further said.

During the evaluation, Jude Michael Magora of DOST 2 and PSTC Quirino team headed Simon conducted technology needs assessment to identify technical needs possible for innovation funding and avail other technical consultancy services. (MDCT/TCB/with reports from Lhea V. Seculles/DOST/PIA Quirino)
