LTOPF caravan gets gun holders' overwhelming response

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- Hundreds of gun holders responded the call to renew their expired License To Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and firearm license during a two-day caravan on LTOPF and Firearms Registration, June 3 and 4, at the SM City here.

“We have an overwhelming response as seen in the queue of those who wanted to avail the services from the caravan,” said Regional Civil Security Unit 6 – Firearms and Explosives Section chief Lt. Richard Lumbres, noting that the caravan’s medical team ran out of neuro examination sheet on the second day of the "out of town" activity.

Based on records, a total of 307  individuals availed the neuro examination and 359 others underwent the drug test aside from those who applied for the National Police Clearance and accommodated on their LTOPF account verification and other relevant concerns.

He also reminded the gun holders to  check their LTOPF account online for the next steps and or other needed requirements in the whole process of application or renewal of LTOPF and firearms license.

Subsequently, the applicants need to set an appointment with the RCSU 6 to bring the required documents for actual evaluation at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.

The province has about 4,000 gun holders with expired licenses.

The caravan is in view of a directive from PNP Chief to reduce the number of unregistered firearms in the country.

“The LTOPF caravan team thanks the warm welcome of Capiceños and then our gratitude to PRO 6 director Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo for allowing us to bring the caravan in Roxas City,” Lumbres noted, conveying also the same appreciation to SM City Roxas mall management, Roxas City Police Station and Capiz Police Provincial Office for the success of the undertaking.

The team was led by PRO 6 – RCSU chief Col. Eduardo Abaday. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
