SAN FERNANDO CITY, June 10 (PIA) -- A total of 18 local government units (LGUs) in La Union passed the 2019 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA).
According to Mark Alison N. Follosco of the Regional Council for the Welfare of Children, the province's 20 local government units (LGUs) were audited in 2019.
“The CFLGA is a major tool that aims at assessing the LGU performance in the delivery of social services on child and youth welfare and identifying results of the intervention,” Follosco said.
The evaluation was based on four indicators: child survival, development, protection, participation, and governance.
Based on the results released by the Department of the Interior and Local Government on June 8, 17 towns and one city in La Union made it to the list and are among the 84 LGUs in Region 1 that passed the audit.
Some of the performance parameters were not met by two LGUs in La Union namely Bagulin and Luna.
Overall, 315 eligible LGUs nationwide passed the audit.
The conferment of the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance Award and the Presidential Awards for Child-Friendly Cities and Municipalities is based on the CFLGA results.
Further, the audit's findings are also relevant to the LGU's pursuit of the Seal for Good Local Governance (SCFLG).
The 2019 SCFLG Award for regional passers will be presented this November during the celebration of National Children's Month 2022. (JCR/JPD, PIA La Union)
