CagVal's food tourism stakeholders, tour operators join 'Kain Na' in NCR

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Various food tourism stakeholders and tour operators from the Cagayan Valley region participated in the recently concluded ‘Kain Na 2022'.

The 'Kain Na 2022' is Department of Tourism's (DOT) flagship food festival aimed to bring every region's best gastronomic offers.

Representing the region from the food tourism were Lighthouse Cooperative with its famous Chicharabao and DA Multipurpose Cooperative with its 'PandeRISE'.

Chicharabao is a chicharon made of pure carabao skin while the PandeRISE (from pandesal), developed by the Department of Agriculture–Cagayan Valley Research Center (DA-CVRC) in San Felipe, City of Ilagan, Isabela, is a popular Filipino breakfast bread infused with the nutrients and energy-giving content of the Calatrava rice variety, substituting 20% of the wheat flour requirement for baking.

DOT-accredited tour operators Pink Diamond International Travel and Tours and Courage Integrated Farm also shared their tour packages offering food, leisure, and adventure tours to the Cagayan Valley region.

The "Kain Na! Foodie Adventure" ran from June 9 to 12 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay's activity center, featuring 13 booths and 40 exhibitors from across the country.

"This is precisely what this latest iteration of Kain Na! food and travel festival promises to give us-- a glimpse of the rich and delectable food culture in the Philippines to a sampling of local cuisines, heirloom recipes, precious produce, and some indigenous ingredients from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao," DOT Metro Manila Director Sharlene Zabala-Batin said in an interview with PNA.

The tourism department here banners the branding #YourIslandsAndValleyOfFUN to define and embrace the distinct characteristics of the region and to include its many diverse yet breathtaking natural, cultural and man-made attractions. (MDCT/PIA-Cagayan)
