LTFRB eyes release of 2nd tranche fuel subsidy by July

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – After the approval of provisional P1 peso fare, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is aiming to distribute the 2nd tranche of the fuel subsidy for public utility vehicles (PUVs) by early July.

In a statement on Wednesday, LTFRB Executive Director Maria Kristina Cassion said that the documentary requirements for the release of another P6,500 fuel subsidy for every operators and drivers of PUVs are being prepared.

“We’re targeting early July. However, it would also depend on how fast the DBM (Department of Budget and Management) can download the funds to us,” Cassion noted.

Cassion assured the beneficiaries for a much faster process of availing of the subsidy for the second tranche as all the cards have already been produced by the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) from the previous phases.

According to LTFRB data as of June 14, only 31,992 of the total 264,578 beneficiaries are yet to receive the P6,500 fuel subsidy from LBP.

Out of the 27,777 delivery riders listed under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 22,517 beneficiaries have already received the money from Land Bank.

While the remaining 5,260 beneficiaries were not able to receive the subsidy as the fund was returned to the DTI because of the invalid GCash and PayMaya accounts.

The LTFRB expected the distribution of the first tranche for PUV drivers and delivery riders to be completed by June 17.

Meanwhile, the government allocated P625 million for 617,806 drivers and operators of tricycles, wherein each of them will receive P1,000. (JAFD/PIA-IDPD)
