Cagayan PNP, SMTD collect nearly 270 bags of blood in donation drive

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - -The Cagayan Police Provincial Office (CPPO), in partnership with the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) and the SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown (SMTD), has collected 122,850 cubic centimeters (cc) of blood (around 268 bags with 450 milliliters each bag) from its blood-letting drive dubbed as "Dugong Magiting; Donate Blood to Save Life".

Police Lt. Col. Emil Q Pajarillo, CPPO's Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit chief, said the activity was held at SMTD on June 17.

The official added that the activity was conducted in support of the celebration of Blood Donor Day last June 14.

The collected bags of blood will be stored at the blood bank of CVMC in Tuguegarao City.

On the other hand, Provincial Director Police Col. Renell R. Sabaldica, in a statement on Friday, expressed his gratitude to the donors for being one with the CPPO's mission to provide a sufficient supply of safe blood to patients who would be needing blood transfusion especially now that dengue cases in the province was recorded high as per the health department.

The donors were from the various municipal police stations under CPPO, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Army particularly from 501st Infantry Brigade, members of Kabataan Kontra sa Droga at Terorismo, MBK-LC, Advocacy Support Groups of CPPO, Samahang Ilocano, and others stakeholders and volunteers.
