CagVal wage board okays Kasambahay monthly wage hike

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) region 2 has increased the monthly salary of Domestic Workers or "Kasambahays" from P4,000 to P5,000.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Cagayan Valley Region is among the seven regions which gave the highest salary hike for household helpers in the recent wage order from P4,000 to P5,000.

The wage hike was issued by the RTWPB following the request of the labor sector for a salary increase to cope with the increasing oil prices of basic goods and commodities as well as services.

Other regions including the Ilocos, Cordillera, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas and Central Visayas also gave P5,000 wage hike for household helpers in their respective areas.

There were 13 regions that  implemented wage increases in the country for the household helpers effective this month of June.

Earlier, DOLE announced that the RTWPB approved P420 wage hike for those in the retail, service and non-agriculture sectors while P400 for those in the agriculture sector.

The RTWPB  also started accepting applications for exemption for those establishments that do not have the capacity to implement the wage order. (BME/OTB/PIA Cagayan)
