PENRO, DTI Antique partner for local products exhibit

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) – The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique are currently holding a local products exhibit at PENRO Balangay Building, Brgy. Maybato Sur, here.

As part of the continuing celebration of the Philippine Environment Month, PENRO has partnered with DTI Antique to gather local manufacturers and producers with the purpose of promoting environment-friendly mechanisms in business operations.

Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Andres Untal, Supervising Trade-Industry Development Specialist Lynna Joy Cardinal, and KAMI Antique President Aben Ortega lead the ribbon-cutting of the local products exhibit at PENRO Balangay Building, June 20.

At least 20 exhibitors from KMME Association of Mentors/Mentees in Antique (KAMI Antique) feature their products in the event that will last until June 23.

KAMI Antique is a group of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have successfully completed the intensive 10-module Kapatid Mentor Me (KMME) mentorship and training program of DTI.

KAMI Antique President Aben Ortega expressed his gratitude to PENRO and DTI Antique for creating another opportunity for them to display their products and establish business networks, citing the importance of trade fairs and exhibits in augmenting their sales.

“More (business) channels, more sales,” he emphasized.

Ortega also thanked House Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Representative, now Senator-elect Loren Legarda for putting importance to MSMEs by allocating a venue at the Old Provincial Capitol to feature their proudly Antique-made products.

For her part, Supervising Trade-Industry Development Specialist Lynna Joy Cardinal underscored the need to provide constant assistance to MSMEs to ensure their growth and said that business owners who wish to be trained under the KMME program may signify their intent to DTI Antique.

Meanwhile, PENR Officer Andres Untal encourages the shift to indigenous packaging of applicable products as a way to contribute in the preservation of the environment. (AAL/BPS/PIA Antique)
