LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, June 22 (PIA) – The Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) is accepting applications for the 2022 Fisheries Scholarship Program for local fisherfolk in Pangasinan who wish to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries degree.
The scholarship has two program components such as the Fisheries Industry Leader Grant (FILG) for high school graduates who are among the Top 10 of the graduating class; and the Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG) for high school graduates whose parents are registered as municipal fisherfolk.
The scholarship support and privileges per scholar includes free tuition and other school fees or as required by the curriculum, except dormitory fees/rental; monthly stipend; book allowance (P2,000 outright grant for textbooks and other essential school supplies released every semester); (P3,000 for on the job training allowance); P7,000 outright grant per school upon submission of Certified True Copy of thesis proposal; and a graduation support of P1,500.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lingayen is one of the LGUs that showed interest in applying for the scholarship grant with Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil expressing his full support for the DA-BFAR program.
“It is a big help to the education of the children of local fishermen in the town. I encourage all qualified youth to take such an opportunity and use their potential to grow the country's fisheries and aquatic resources and industry,” Bataoil said.
Interested applicants can obtain an application form at the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO)- Lingayen office until August 29, 2022, which is also the last day of application.
