SSS runs after erring employers in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, June 27 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) Luzon North 1 conducted its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in three municipalities in La Union on June 23 to reach out to delinquent employers, as part of its continuing efforts to ensure full compliance with the Social Security Law.

Under Republic Act 11199, employers are mandated to register their businesses with SSS and remit their employees’ contributions regularly.

According to Francisco Pentecostes, SSS La Union branch head, out of 10 non-compliant employers from Balaoan, Bangar, and Luna, five were given written orders for non-registration of business and five who failed to produce employment records for inspection.

Pentecostes said the employers subjected to RACE were given 15 days to respond to the written order by visiting SSS La Union branch.

“Failure to comply with the reminders na ginawa ng SSS, their cases will now be referred to our Legal Department. Ang aming abogado ang magfile ng case against sa employer for failure to pay contributions or failure to report the employers for coverage,”Pentecostec added.

Further, the SSS offered the Enhanced Installment Payment Program under its Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program wherein employers may pay their delinquencies through installment basis, ranging from nine to 60 months, depending on the delinquency amount.

Meanwhile, the SSS advised employees to be vigilant in checking their SSS accounts through My.SSS Accounts so they can quickly report any irregularity in their contributions. (JCR/JPD/KCR,PIA La Union)
