Cagayan government holds annual visual art contest

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Provincial Government of Cagayan has once again opened a visual arts competition in its advocacy of promoting local pride through its rich culture, history, and people’s artistry.

More than 30 Cagayano artists participated in the contest with their masterpieces posted for public display in an exhibit at the Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center located in this city.

The winners of the competition will be announced and awarded in a ceremony on July 2, 2022 at the museum. They will receive cash prizes, certificates, and plaques as awards.

The visual arts competition is divided into categories – (1) physical media, which includes painting and sculpture, and (2) digital media or photography.

The contest is part of the Cagayan Art and Creative Writing Awards 2022 (CACWA), which also includes a competition for short story writing.

The CACWA was established to urge and inspire local creativity and artistry, while highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the province of Cagayan and aiding artists and writers in terms of exposure and development. (OTB/JKC/PIA Region 2)
