CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) – Tabukenos cheer as the city won   third place in the   2022 National Kaunlarang Pantao Award City Category on Population and Development (POPDEV) Program of the Commission on Population and Development (PopCom).

The annual award, also known as the Rafael M. Salas POPDEV Award, recognizes local government units with exemplary performance in the promotion and implementation of population development programs.

City Population Development Officer Jonalyn Kiser cited the city LGU’s initiative in promoting POPDEv programs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Th establishment of the city’s population database  has contributed largely in the inputs of other partner agencies especially in the city’s COVID-19 response actions, she explained.

Under this, the city-LGU has organized barangay-based population program coordinators.

 Issues and concerns on the population as the prime resource of the country must be addressed adequately and efficiently, Kiser said.

Tabuk received 100,000 cash incentive that will be used for population development programs.

 The national awarding was held at   the Hotel Lucky China Town in Binondo, Manila on June 23, 2022. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
