QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) reminded the qualified voters to register for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls that will start on Monday.
In an advisory on Sunday, the COMELEC said voter applicants can go to the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) in their respective district, city or municipality from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. including holidays.
The registration will run until July 23, 2022, all applications has to be filed personally.
The COMELEC noted that Filipinos who are at least 18 years of age on or before December 5 and a resident of the Philippines for at least one year may also register and participate as regular voters.
The rules also require a residency of at least six months in the barangay where they intend to vote.
The COMELEC clarified those aged 15 to 30 years old can vote for the SK elections, while those who can vote for the barangay elections are those aged 18 years old and above.
Meanwhile, the poll body will accept applications for transfer, change/corrections of entries in the registration records, the inclusion of registration records and reinstatement of name on the list of voters, and transfer of registration records from a foreign post to a local one.
Filipinos filing for reactivation of their registration records are advised to send their applications to the official e-mail address of the OEO in their locality.
The COMELEC urged the applicants to register early and prepare their application forms and requirements beforehand.
